How to write a work package that a grown-up will apply to

Scope, deliverables, budget band, deadline. We will be kind, and we will be specific.

A fifty-minute session on the difference between a collaboration opportunity and a job. Examples from the live board.

Bring a draft. We will edit it in public, with the names removed and the sins left in.

The session covers the four things that determine whether a package attracts serious applications: a scope that describes a task rather than a subject, deliverables a stranger could recognise as complete, a budget band, and the awkward constraint that publishers instinctively conceal.

We work through real examples from the board, including two that were rewritten after receiving no serious applications and one that received eleven and had to be narrowed. The publishers concerned have consented, and are in several cases attending.

The last twenty minutes are spent editing drafts submitted in advance. This is the useful part. Submit yours when you register and we will anonymise it before anyone sees it.
